Service Description

Jewellery making 10 week course starting Monday 3rd February 10.00 - 12.00 pm (Improvers/intermediate/returning students) This course is designed for people who have previously attended the 10 week beginners course, equivalent intensive course (or similar course if done at another jewellery school) or students with good prior knowledge and experience of basic jewellery making techniques. (For example: be reasonably competent in texturing metal, saw piercing, making rings to size, soldering multiple items, bezel setting a stone). If you have previously attended some 1 day sessions or a course elsewhere I would recommend looking at the skills covered on the beginners course to help you decide if this course is right for you. There is a lot packed into the beginners course and it is designed to give you the basic core skills which will enable you to progress to this level. I don't teach those basic skills on this level. The scheme of work for this course is a lot more fluid than that of the beginners course meaning students will have time to work on their own designs and continue practicing techniques. I can also include some other techniques not previously covered such as tube setting, other setting techniques such as collet setting, claw setting and enamelled copper jewellery. This course includes 1 optional tube set ring project in silver and there will be a small charge of around £5 for materials should you want to attempt it. Students who want to try some enamel copper jewellery can do so however there will be an additional charge of £5 for each week of use for this to cover the cost of enamels, copper and running the kiln. Students will be responsible for supplying their own silver for any other projects they wish to undertake but have access to the other materials and a wide variety of jewellery making tools and equipment. (this term courses will run continuously with no half term break)
