Service Description

2 Day Jewellery making for beginners - 10 - 4 pm This course is a new 2 day introduction to some basic jewellery making techniques aimed at beginners. The focus is on ring making and we will cover some basic skills to get you started . - Course Breakdown - Day 1 - In the morning we will start with practicing some texturing techniques on metal. This will be followed by some saw piecing practice, cutting some shapes in copper using a jewellers saw. In the afternoon we will make a slim stacking ring from copper to practice all the necessary skills to make a simple ring including how to calculate the length of wire needed in order to make a ring to a particular size. You will then make a further simple ring from silver. Day 2 - We will utilise all the skills covered on day 1 to make spinner ring. The main part of the ring will be made from silver and then you can add a maximum of 3 spinners from silver or you can substitute one for some gold filled metal. Skills covered during the 2 day course will be - texturing metal, saw piercing (cutting using a jewellery saw), filing and sanding, making a ring to size, soldering, forming rings, polishing, making spinner rings. We will also discuss some additional information such as hallmarking requirements if you wish to make jewellery to sell. I can also provide a suppliers list for materials and tools etc.
