Service Description

This course takes place over 3 days and consists of various jewellery making skills and techniques, all easy to do own your own without the need for lots of expensive equipment. Day 1 - A full day will be spent making resin jewellery components by filling silver plated bezels with resin and adding pigments and inclusions such as flowers/petals, feathers, glitter/mica powers, confetti etc. Lots of silver plated bezels will be provided for creating pendants and components that can be linked together to make bracelets and earrings. Included is plenty of resin for your creations, pigments and items to set into resin available but please feel free to bring anything along with you. Moulds for creating different shapes such as beads and bangles are also available. Items will be left to cure ready for day 3 of the course. Day 2 - in the morning we will make some basic pieces from PMC (precious metal clay). We will make some simple charms or components to make into earrings. I will show you how to roll, shape, add texture, dry, refine, fire and polish your silver clay piece. You can also try some cold enamelling with U.V resin to add some colour. Materials included- 10g pack of PMC 3 clay to create your items. All tools and equipment to add texture etc will be available. We will leave the items to dry out for some of the afternoon before firing ready to be used on day 3 of the course. In the afternoon of day 2 will make some Jesmonite pots, coasters and trinket boxes. Jesmonite is a water based resin that dries to an opaque finish similar to concrete but it can be tinted to add colour. I will show you how to mix the Jesmonite, add pigments and pour into various moulds using marbling techniques, 2 tone effects and adding foil. Items cure in around 30 mins initially but need 24 hrs to fully cure. Day 3 - We will start the day firing the PMC items from day 2 and preparing the resin items from day one ready to be assembled into finished jewellery. The rest of the day will be spent making beaded jewellery incorporating your PMC charms from day 2 to make into beaded charm bracelets or adding other findings such as earring wires or chains to make necklaces. (All findings etc are silver plated). I will show you how to make elasticated bracelets and how to create bracelets incorporating a clasp. You can also make extra necklaces and earrings. (A limited choice of sterling silver beads and findings may be available to buy)
