Service Description

PLEASE NOTE: This workshop is better suited to those with some silver soldering experience (not with a soldering iron) and prior silver smithing experience as there are some slightly more advanced soldering techniques involved so previous experience is strongly recommended. * New Workshop * - This class is a slight variation on other bezel setting workshops in that you will create a show stopper of a ring and you can make the settings with some gallery wire, which results in a fancier looking setting. There are some design options so you can choose to create either a ring featuring 2 small to medium sized bezel settings or a ring with a larger stone setting and featuring a twin ring shank. Option 1. - You will create a ring with a bezel setting at either end and you can either create a 'wrap around' style or a 'between the finger' style ring using half round wire for the shank. Both of these styles of ring are very comfortable to wear and have a little bit of give with the size, meaning that if your fingers change in size you won't grow out of your ring. Option 2 - You can create a ring featuring a larger stone and make a ring that has a twin shank (2 bands resulting in a double shank) There will be a selection of silver and copper gallery wires to create fancier settings (there will be a small charge for silver gallery wire of around £5 depending on silver prices at the time ) or you could choose bezel wire with a scolloped edge. You can use all silver or just add some copper gallery wire and create a mixed metal ring. (The style of wire you use may depend on the stone or stones you opt for). You can choose from sea glass, sparkly dichroic glass or gemstones to make your ring and I have a supply of these that you can choose from that are suitable for design option 1. Design option 2 may require a larger stone and these can be purchased on the day (card payment only). There may be additional charges for design option 2 as more silver may needed to complete the design. This will depend on the size of the stone chosen and this will be discussed at the start of the session. You can of course bring along your own flat backed cabochon stone, glass cabochon or sea glass that is reasonably flat.
