Rings & Things 10 - 3 pm
Sunday
Service Description
Rings and Things is suitable for beginners or those with some prior experience. This workshop revolves around making rings and other circular things with wire. You can use a maximum of 20 cm of either round or square sterling silver wire and basically you will make anything circular. For example you could make - * A set of 2 or 3 simple stacking rings depending on size and style chosen * A halo pendant (1 small ring sitting inside a larger ring) * An infinity pendant (2 interlined rings) * A Russian wedding ring or pendant (3 interlinking rings) * Hoop or round drop earrings * A simple ring and halo pendant (using additional metals such as brass or copper) You will practice with copper first making a simple ring and you can incorporate other metals into your finished design. Wire can be textured or twisted to add detail. The amount of 'rings' you get out of your allocated silver will depend on your ring size, what you decide to make and time available. Some designs such as twisted wire will use more silver and necklaces include a simple chain in place of some of the silver allowance. Hoop earrings involve some fiddly soldering so you may only get to make 1 pair. Anything interlinked such as the infinity necklace or Russian wedding ring are more time consuming due to extra soldering tasks. (you may not get to use the full 20 cm allowance, what you make is time dependant as well as materials)
