Service Description

4 Week Stone Setting Course - Monday 10 - 1 pm This course focuses on some beginners stone setting techniques and takes place over 4 weeks for 3 hours each week. This course is suitable for anyone wanting to start some stone setting techniques. Previous experience of soldering would be an advantage but it is not essential. If you have attended a couple of 1 day workshops this course is perfect to expand upon your skill set. The course will cover bezel setting and tube setting and you will make 1 bezel set piece and 2 tube settings. - Course Breakdown - Week 1 - Bezel setting - You will create a bezel set ring or Pendant creating the setting from scratch for either a gemstone, sea glass or dichroic glass cabochon. This project will continue into week 2. It may be possible to do 2 small bezel settings and create a pair of earrings instead. Week 2 - Bezel setting continued. Time permitting start tube setting project. Week 3 - Tube setting - you can create a ring or pendant from silver with a tube setting. You will cut the tube and burr a seat for the stone (rather than using a pre made tube setting). Week 4 - Tube setting continued, you will create another tube set and this can be a wishbone ring. It should be possible to practice a couple of different construction techniques and you will be taught how to make a ring to a specific size accurately. Silver for all projects is included in the price along with a small stones for setting.
