PLEASE NOTE: (Previous experience recommend) This workshop is better suited to those with some silver soldering experience (not with a soldering iron) and prior silver smithing experience. I have had plenty of beginners attending bezel setting before so it is not essential, but please be aware there is lots of soldering work during this class (Silver soldering uses a flame rather than a soldering iron). This workshop is a slight variation on the usual bezel setting workshop in that you will make a stunning ring that wraps around the finger and is connected to the sides of your bezel setting. This wrap around style is sometimes known as a by-pass ring. You will create a bezel setting to fit your chosen stone which can be either a small gemstone, dichroic glass cabochon or sea glass. The bezel is created from scratch using bezel strip and silver sheet to create the setting for your chosen stone. This is then soldered to a wrap around ring that you will also create using slim wire. Silver and small stones/sea glass are provided however please feel free to bring your own small stone/sea glass if you have something you want to use and we can check for suitability (please keep in mind there are size limitations of around a maximum of 15 mm stone) Please note- all silver smithing workshops involve using tools such as hammers, saws and a small cooks torch.
