Service Description

Fused Glass Jewellery (pendants) This is a new course where you will make some basic fused glass cabochons using a variety of dichroic glass, streaky glass and other coloured decorative glass before firing in a microwave kiln. During the course of the day we will be able to fire several kiln loads and will keep making until around 2.30 pm. Then while the last batch is cooling you can add a couple of silver plated bails to some of your cabochons to create pendants. The glue will need sufficient time to set so it won't be possible to attach bails to everything but you will be able to take everything home and potentially add your own bails at your leisure. I will also advise you where you can buy other jewellery blanks suitable for glueing cabochons onto. Materials included are - a selection of dichroic glass, coloured and clear glass and frit etc for creating fused glass cabochons. Silver plated pendant bails will be supplied. Time permitting you should be able to create 4 or 5 finished pendants plus an additional 3 or 4 extra cabs to take away depending on the size you make (students are responsible for supplying their own chains). Please note - this course is not designed to give you an in-depth knowledge of glass fusing. We will cover the basics to get you started fusing small amounts of glass in a microwave kiln.
