* New Course * This course is slight variation on the previous 2 day glass fusing/bezel setting with some changes on day 2 and incorporating some silver clay. Day 1 - Will we make some small basic fused glass cabochons using a variety of dichroic glass and other coloured glass before firing in a microwave kiln. You will get the chance to make several glass cabochons so you can choose your favourite for day 2. The glass fusing element of the course will be kept simple and there will be size limitations so that they are suitable for the design created on day 2. Then in the afternoon while the glass is cooling, we will start prepping some design ideas for the silver clay on day 2. We will start rolling out some air drying clay to test the texture plates and use cutters and stencils to cut some shapes to you can start planning the design for day 2. Day 2 - The second day will be spent completing your design using your chosen glass cabochon made on day 1. You will create a pendant using silver clay and incorporate your cabochon into the design. There are several ways to set the cabochon so you can choose your preferred method. Once dried it will be fired using fire in place techniques. Materials included are - A selection of dichroic glass, coloured and clear glass for creating fused glass cabochons. A total of 15 grams of silver clay for creating 1 pendant (please note chains are not included). Please note - this course is not designed to give you an in-depth knowledge of glass fusing. We will cover the basics to get you started cutting and fusing small amounts of glass in a microwave kiln. The learning outcome for the session is to create a glass cabochon and set it into silver clay with the result being an entirely hand made item of jewellery. Please also note, there will be size limitations when it comes to the glass cabs. You will not be able to make anything too large.
