* New * This 3 day course is aimed at people who have attended a previous intensive course such as Jewellery School (4 day course), Summer School (3 or 5 day course) or an 8 or 10 week course. If you have attended a course elsewhere you should have covered some basic skills such as saw piercing, filing, soldering, polishing, making a ring to size and ideally bezel setting. If you have attended multiple one day workshops and you feel you have good prior experience with the above skills then this course may be suitable but you must feel confident with the skills mentioned. This course is perfect for anyone wanting to expand on their skill set with set projects or if you can't commit to weekly classes. Day 1 - Tube setting. You will make 2 items from silver wire incorporating a tube setting. You can choose to make either 1 ring and 1 pendant, 2 rings or 2 pendants. Alternatively you could even make two of the same items and make them into a set of earrings. You could make a wishbone ring or tear drop shaped pendant if you want to further challenge yourself and learn more skills or you could make a tube set stacking ring. There are a number of shapes you can choose from for a pendant. The first tube setting will be made using a pre-made tube setting and the second you can either choose another pre-made setting or learn how to burr a seat for a stone and make the tube setting yourself. Day 2 ~ Spinner Ring with 2 spinners. One can incorporate a tube setting or a small pre made bezel setting and the other you can add an accent shape. Day 3 - Bezel setting with gallery wire. You will make a pendant incorporating a bezel setting made from a fancier style bezel wire/gallery wire. You can add elements such as granulation or other raised elements. Or you can saw pierce a shape from silver sheet and add a stone to enhance the design plus solder on some other elements. Alternatively you could make a wrap around ring with 2 setting or a between the finder ring with settings. Please note there will be an additional charge for the silver needed for these projects and the final price will depend on what you choose to make and the price of silver at the time of the course. (This could be around £40 in total). You can of course bring some of your own silver supplies with you. Any silver brought must be ready to work with ie wire, sheet etc. rather than scrap that needs melting down with the intention to turn into sheet metal.
