* New * Adding colour to jewellery is my absolute favourite thing to do. This new 3 day course explores 2 different methods of achieving this including using pre-anodised aluminium and copper. Both techniques are a fantastic creative process and it's one of my own favourite things to do! Day 1 - The first part of the day is all about adding colour to anodised aluminium. I will show you a couple of my favourite methods of adding colour using ink and dye and also stamping methods. The bulk of day 1 will be spent colouring and each small piece of pre-anodised aluminium is like a blank canvas to work on. The colour will be sealed by the end of the day and there should be sufficient time to colour around 6 or 7 small panels of aluminium. Day 2 ~ We will start to create some jewellery from your coloured aluminium panels by punching out shapes using disc cutters such as circles, hearts, butterflies and flowers. We will add some texture and also do some saw piercing practice so that you can cut your own shapes by hand. We will also cut some copper shapes using both techniques so that you have some ready for day 3. Any of your unused coloured panels can be taken home to work on in your own time. Day 3 - This day is all about enamel. You will spend the first couple of hours or so creating some test pieces applying enamel powders to copper to work out a colour scheme. Then in the afternoon you can start to add enamel to your copper shapes created on day 2. There will also be some pre-cut copper blanks to create some finished jewellery. Materials included - Pre-anodised aluminium, a selection of inks/dyes/stamps etc to add colour and pattern. Copper sheet and blanks plus a variety of enamel powders for use. Please note - no silver findings are included in the price but a pack of jump rings and hook wires can be purchased during the course. Students will supply their own chains. This course does not cover details on how to anodise aluminium, we will only be using pre-anodised aluminium.
