Service Description

Rings & Things is suitable for beginners or those with some prior experience. It is a great starter workshop to attend with friends! This workshop revolves around making rings and other circular things with wire. You can use up to a maximum of 20 cm of either round or square sterling silver wire (depending on the design) and you will make 'ring' shapes that can then be turned into something else if you don't want to wear them as rings. For example you could make - * A set of 2 or 3 simple stacking rings (depending on size and design chosen) * A halo pendant (one small circle inside a larger circle) * An infinity pendant (2 interlinked circles) * A Russian wedding ring (this may need additional metals such as brass or copper) * Drop earrings * A simple ring and halo pendant (using additional metals such as brass or copper) * Small drop earrings and a single ring (maximum of 3 silver rings) You will practice with copper first making a simple ring and you can incorporate this into your finished design if you wish. Wire can be textured, twisted or waved to add detail. The amount of 'rings' you get out of the maximum allocated silver will depend on your ring size and what you decide to make. Designs that are interlinked such as the infinity necklace or Russian wedding ring are more time consuming to make. Please note - You may not necessarily get to use the full 20 cm of allocated wire. The amount of wire you use will depend on which item you choose to make, your ring size if you choose to make a ring and also it is also time dependant. If you choose to make earrings or a pendant these items include findings and/or a chain which will replace some of the wire allowance. As a guild the following will apply, final amounts will be allocated on the day depending on what you would like to make. - Stacking rings - up to 20cm of wire (this can be from several different wire options rather than the same type of wire) Pendants - up to 15cm of wire plus findings and a fine chain Earrings - This very much depends on the design chosen on the day but you could make a set of small drop earrings plus 1 additional 'ring' to use as either a ring or pendant. Russian wedding ring- this will depend on your size. Small sizes can be made totally from silver, larger sizes may need 1 copper or brass ring incorporating. Please note - what you make must fit within the time frame and material allowance of the class.
